NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board | Communications Officer

  • Salary: £35,964 – £43,780 per annum
  • Role: Permanent
  • Application deadline: October 21st 2024

In this exciting new role, you’ll help the NHS in North Central London (that’s Barnet, Enfield, Haringey, Islington and Camden) communicate with our internal and external audiences, creating and delivering content that brings our work to life across a range of channels and platforms.

As well as ensuring our social media channels, websites and external bulletins reflect the issues and campaigns that matter most, you’ll play a key role in helping to make sure our staff have access to the up-to-date information they need.

You’ll help us to deliver a professional and responsive media and public affairs service, responding to journalist and parliamentary enquiries, while working proactively to share our news.

And you’ll help to run a series of high-profile campaigns, working with internal teams, system peers and external partners to raise awareness and influence behaviour change that will have a positive long-term impact on the lives of local people.

It’s a busy job – you’ll need to juggle multiple projects, delivering high-quality, engaging content and campaigns, on time and on message – but it’s a great opportunity to take the next step in your communications career in a collegiate, fun and supportive environment.

If you are creative and organised, with excellent writing skills, we’d love to welcome you to our talented and friendly team.

Main duties of the role include:

  • Creating and sharing high-quality, engaging content across a range of internal and external channels (including videos, podcasts, infographics, features and interviews) using platforms and tools
  • To draft and edit clear, high-quality editorial content for a range of channels including eBulletins, press releases, media statements and social media.
  • To help respond to questions from journalists, MPs and the parliamentary hub, working with colleagues to co-ordinate accurate and high-quality responses
  • To help create and deliver multi-channel, content-led campaigns in support of the ICB’s population health ambitions.
  • To ensure consistent read across between local and national campaigns, tailoring content that helps reinforce population health messages at a local level.
  • To help produce key corporate publications (such as the Annual Report).
  • To use our social media channels to widen reach, working with system partners to amplify each other’s content and celebrate achievements.
  • To help ensure content on our corporate websites and staff intranet is relevant and up to date working with page owners to draft clear and accessible web ready content.
  • To make best use of digital communications to reach a wide range of audiences, including maximising the potential of paid for advertising.
  • To help us respond to emergency or unforeseen events, including developing and publishing accurate and high-quality content at pace.
  • To help plan and deliver a range of internal and external events.
  • To act as a first point of contact for email enquiries into the team, ensuring that we respond quickly and helpfully.

About NCL ICB

NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board (NCL ICB) is a statutory body responsible for planning and allocating health and care resources to improve the lives of people in our five boroughs: Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Islington.

As an ICB, we’re focused on:

  • Improving outcomes in population health and healthcare
  • Tackling inequalities in outcomes, experience, and access
  • Enhancing productivity and value for money
  • Helping the NHS support broader social and economic development.

It is an exciting time to be joining NCL ICB – we have been through an organisational change programme to redesign the structure of the organisation and the way that we work to better meet the needs of our population, our people, our system, and our partners.

As part of the organisational change programme, we want to re-launch and re-energise the organisation, embed new ways of working and build the capabilities we need to create a thriving organisational culture.
