International Fertilizer Association (IFA)| Communications Intern

- Duration: 4-6 month internship
- Location: Based at the Association’s office in London, in a hybrid work environment
About Us
The International Fertilizer Association (IFA) was founded in 1927 and is the only global fertilizer association, with around 500 members in some 80 countries and a mission to promote the efficient and responsible production, distribution and use of plant nutrients. This mission plays a critical role in helping to feed the world sustainably. IFA represents providers of plant nutrition solutions. Members include fertilizer producers, traders and distributors, as well as their associations, service providers to the industry, research organizations, agtech start-ups and non-governmental organizations.
Responsibilities
Working closely with the Director of Communications & Marketing and the Communications Manager, the Communications Intern will:
- Help with the ongoing development and execution of the social media and web strategy for the Association’s LinkedIn page and YouTube account, including:
- Creating drafts of engaging posts that highlight the fertilizer industry and the Association’s activities
- Review selected podcasts and bring in fresh ideas for posts or potential podcasts to target with IFA spokespeople
- Help in monitoring engagement metrics and optimizing content accordingly
- Reviewing IFA website for potential updates, opportunities for new content, formatting issues, etc
- Analyse post-event performance metrics and compare data across events to identify which types of content and assets are most effective in driving engagement during pre-event promotion, live coverage and post-event follow-ups.
- Help to manage the Communications content calendar and update the Communications Dashboard with upcoming activities arising from the fortnightly Comms / Secretariat Service meetings. Help to manage IFA Media inbox.
- Assist in producing video content by:
- Drafting scripts that effectively communicate key messages
- Coordinating with internal teams and preparing creative briefs for video production
- Creating engaging video content using CapCut or other similar software
- Support the development of briefing notes, speeches and presentations for the Association’s leadership team by:
- Researching and gathering relevant data, statistics, and industry insights
- Crafting compelling narratives and messaging aligned with the Association’s goals
- Ensuring consistency with the Association’s brand and tone.
- Contribute to the creation and distribution of other communication materials, such as newsletters, press releases, and website content.
- Assisting with the production of IFA’s monthly member newsletter, Growing Together, including:
- Seeking and compiling content (copy and images) from the Secretariat teams / Services and incorporating submissions into the newsletter template
- Proofreading and editing content as necessary to match corporate tone of voice and house style
- Working with Communications & Marketing team to produce and distribute final newsletter.
Qualifications and Key Requirements
- Degree in humanities, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field
- Excellent (native) written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong attention to detail, with a good editorial and proofreading focus
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn, YouTube and X
- Familiarity with video production and editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, CapCut, Final Cut Pro)
- Familiarity with graphic design packages such as Adobe PhotoShop and InDesign or Canva would be advantageous
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Familiarity with communications analytics and ability to analyse metrics and draw conclusions
- Customer-focused, with a can-do attitude
- Able to quickly build positive working relationships within an international organizational context
- Ability to work independently, using own initiative and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- UK work permit or UK citizenship
